OPTICAL COMMUNICATIONS
SPACELINK is a 3-year HORIZON-SPACE project which aims to deliver the end-to-end design, manufacturing and evaluation of two optical transceiver types :
- VCSEL OTRx for optical interconnectsÂ
- ePIC (electronic-photonic IC) OTRx for coherent free-space lasercom links
The project targets the demonstration of OTRx devices at TRL 7 through module-level reliability testing and deployment – demonstration within representative systems.
We aim to establish the first European supply chain of hi-rel optical transceivers, removing dependency barriers and securing Europe’s digital sovereignty. SPACELINK invests in cutting-edge manufacturing technologies accessible within Europe including: SiGe BiCMOS electronics, monolithic electronic/photonic integration, 3D polymer micro-optics & hi-rel O/E assembly.
OPTICAL INTERCONNECTS

VCSEL OTRx
SPACELINK develops 100 Gb/s VCSEL Optical Transceivers for spaceborne optical interconnects. Applications: regenerative payloads, active antennas & on-board digital processors.
FREE-SPACE LASERCOM LINKS

ePIC OTRx
SPACELINK develops 200 Gb/s coherent modulators and receivers relying on photonic-BiCMOS monolithic integration. Applications: optical inter-satellite links, satellite-to-ground downlinks & optical feeder links.
